Hayley Wells - Children's Literature: Time For Bed

Time For Bed

By Mem Fox

SUMMARY:
Published in 1993, Australian author; Mem Fox, created an adorable story for young children. Similar to, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, Time For Bed's text also involves the use of rhyme/poem that students can follow. Limited text is used but the illustrations, by Jane Dyer make the text come alive in the book for every child to enjoy. The absense of bright colours are superseded by the night sky background making the colours stand out. The illustrations are very important in the book as they represent the calm and soothing text that the author is trying to bring across to the reader.

USE IN THE CLASS:
Time For Bed can be used within a year 1 class in the following ways:
- Adding another animal into the book/ creating their own text
- Take turns reading to each other, learning the repeating rhyme
-  Looking at what describing words are being used

LINKS WITH ACARA:
