My Funny Family is
a simple picture book written by Keith Faulkner and illustrated by Jonathan
Lambert. This book was first published in 1996 by The Five Mile Press. The
first thing the reader notices about the book is that is square in shape and
its orientation is from vertical rather than horizontal. In other words the
book is read by flipping the page from bottom to top.
The written text of the book is limited to the top page. The
bottom page is taken up by large, colourful illustrations. The illustrations
are of everyday typical items, but when the flap is pulled down the image is
transformed into one of the members of the family with a simple line at the
bottom.
The text is repetitive and has a good rhythm. This may make
for easier reading. This book is idea for young children. It’s easy and repeats
but above all it is interactive and fun.
There is a companion title called My Funny Pets.
